Cerf is an American computer scientist and Chief Internet Evangelist for Google Inc. Radio New Zealand notes his designation as one of the “Fathers of the Internet” for his work in the 1970s with Robert Kahn designing TCP/IP – the protocol that allows computers and networks to talk to one another.

“He has collected a slew of awards since then, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the A. M. Turing Award – widely considered to be the computing field’s equivalent of the Nobel Prize”.
